Six Missing

“chakobsa”

Released nov 09, 2018

A truly collaborative, live & improvised performance in a second story recording studio in SoHo, NYC. Best listened to while on mass transit or while reading Science Fiction.

I remember how this album came about but it feels very distant now. I was reading “Dune” and feeling very experimental, musically speaking. I had just started a new job and didn’t fit into the mold all that well so I kept mostly to myself. I began making my weird sounds in my room and Zac so happened to swing by. He laid on the couch listening to me play for a bit and then went and without speaking grabbed his sax, his pedalboard, and a microphone. I plugged him into my pedalboard and allowed him to improvise while I “played” the pedalboard as an instrument.

We found ourselves recording the process about five minutes into Zac’s performance. Once again, I decided to edit and mix the pieces in with some guitar passes I had done a day before and later. In three days the entire album was ready to be released. I was so flattered and honored that Zac enjoyed making sounds the same way I did. This album led us to creating subsequent Voyager Collective releases as well as our latest collaboration “Certainly in Love”.

Chakobsa and each of the track titles are terminology from “Dune” by Frank Herbert.
